Welcome to PreStack
Thank you for choosing PreStack
This guide covers every page of the app, with step-by-step instructions where you need them. Settings that explain themselves are listed briefly so you can find them fast.
If your question isn't answered here, click Help & Support at the top right of any page in the app and send us a message. We're happy to help.
Use the menu on the left to jump to any section.
How PreStack works
What PreStack does
PreStack turns products that belong together into a stack: a step-by-step set such as a skincare routine, a starter kit or a set of parts. You choose the products and their order, and PreStack shows the whole stack to shoppers:
- On your product pages — a widget on the page of every product in the stack, with buttons to add the whole stack to the cart in one click.
- On its own stack page — every stack gets a shareable page on your store, plus one page that lists all your stacks.
- At checkout — an optional bundle discount that applies automatically when the cart has the whole stack. Shoppers never type a code.
- For returning shoppers — progress toward finishing the stack, and on Build and Grow, a My Journeys page with everything they've bought from your stacks.
Stacks and steps
- A stack has 2 or more steps. Each step is one product (or a product whose options the shopper picks), with a name, a short "why this step matters" line and a quantity.
- Steps are shown in order, so shoppers see what to buy first and what comes next.
- The full stack means every step at its quantity. The bundle discount needs the full stack in the cart; a stack can also offer a smaller 1-of-each discount for one of every step.
- Each stack is Active (live on your storefront), Paused (hidden from shoppers, nothing deleted) or Draft (not on your storefront yet). Stacks never go live by themselves: you publish each one.
Plans at a glance
PreStack has three plans, Core, Build and Grow, and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. There is no free plan: until you choose one, you can build stacks as drafts, but nothing shows on your storefront. Features that need Build or Grow are marked in this guide. See Plans & pricing for the full list.
Nothing is written into your theme files. Everything shoppers see comes from one app embed that you switch on in the theme editor.
Install the app
Install the app
- Open the PreStack listing on the Shopify App Store and click Install.
- Approve the permissions Shopify shows. PreStack never edits your theme files.
- The app opens on its setup guide.
The setup guide
The first time you open PreStack, Set up PreStack walks you through four steps, about 5 minutes in all:
- Tell us what you sell — pick your store type and click Save and continue. PreStack uses it to suggest stack templates that fit. You can change it any time in Settings.
- Pick your first stack template — click Use this on a template, or Skip — I'll build stacks myself later.
- Turn on PreStack in your theme — click Open app embed, then Save in the theme editor, and come back and click I've turned it on — continue.
- You're set up — your all stacks page link is shown, and if you picked a template, Assign products to your stack opens it in the stack editor. Otherwise click Go to dashboard.
Find your way around
PreStack's pages are in the Shopify admin's left sidebar, under the app's name:
- Stacks — all your stacks, new stacks, suggestions and replacing a product.
- Settings — the app embed, your store pages, store type, colors and buttons, the product page widget, collection pages and every text shoppers see.
- Analytics — how your stacks perform, store-wide and stack by stack.
- Plans — your plan and billing.
Click the app's name (PreStack) to go back to the dashboard. Every page has a Help & Support button at the top right for the documentation, the FAQ and contacting us.
Turn on the app embed (required)
Your stacks can't appear on your storefront until the PreStack app embed is on in your theme. You only do this once.
- Click Open app embed (in the setup guide, on the dashboard, or in Settings → Storefront setup).
- The theme editor opens on App embeds with PreStack ready. If it isn't switched on, switch it on. Click Save.
- Come back to PreStack. Settings → Storefront setup → App embed shows Active. Click Check again if it hasn't updated yet.
To do it by hand: Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds (left sidebar) → switch PreStack on → Save.
The check reads your published theme's public storefront. If your store is password-protected, the status can't be checked and shows why. Confirm the switch in the theme editor yourself. Each theme has its own switch, so a theme you switch to later needs it turned on too.
Quick start: your first stack
- Turn on the app embed (above).
- Choose a plan. Open Plans and start your 14-day free trial, so your stacks can go live.
- Create a stack. Open Stacks, click + New stack, then Choose a template and Use template.
- Assign products. In the editor, click Edit on each step and choose its product.
- Publish. Set Status to Active and click Save. Open a product from the stack on your store to see the widget.
Dashboard
Your dashboard
Click the app's name in the sidebar to open the dashboard: what needs your attention, how your stacks are doing, and your live stacks.
Notices at the top
These show only when they apply:
- Start your free trial to publish stacks (or Choose a plan to publish your stacks if your store already had its trial) — you have no plan yet. Everything you build is saved and goes live the moment you subscribe. Click Pick a plan.
- We paused your stacks for your new plan — a plan change left you with more live stacks than your plan allows, so they were all paused. Everything is saved: open Stacks and turn on the ones you want.
- PreStack isn't turned on in your theme — the app embed is off. Click Open app embed and Save.
- 1 stack needs attention / N stacks need attention (Build and Grow) — a step's product is sold out, so shoppers can't add it. Hide step until restocked hides it from the widget, Add restock date tells shoppers when it's expected back, and Review stacks opens the list.
- N stacks haven't been reviewed in 90 days (Grow) — products, prices and seasons change, so a quick review keeps stacks converting. The notice links each stack.
- PreStack found N potential new stacks in your catalog (Build and Grow) — click Review suggestions. Nothing goes live without you.
Overview
- Active stacks — how many stacks are live on your storefront.
- Stack views — how often shoppers saw your stacks in the last 30 days.
- Full stack clicks — in the last 30 days, clicks on the buttons that add the whole stack (or 1 of each) to the cart.
- Order value lift (Build and Grow) — how much bigger orders that include a stack are than your store's average. It appears once there's enough data to work it out.
- Drop-off point — the step where most customers stop buying. It appears once PreStack can see one, and names the stack (or says it's the most common across several).
Active stacks
Your live stacks, up to six, as cards with the same actions as on the Stacks page. Click View all for the rest. With no stacks yet, Create your first stack takes you to the templates.
Stacks
The Stacks page
Your stacks lists every stack, with a + New stack button at the top. On Core, a line shows how many of your 5 active stacks you're using.
- Tabs: All, Active, Paused, Drafts, Suggestions and Replace a product, each with its count.
- Search stacks finds a stack by name.
Stack cards
Each card shows the stack's name, its status (Active, Paused or Draft) and how many steps and products it has. View products lists them.
A card can also show:
- N Steps need a product before publishing or Add at least 2 steps to publish — the stack isn't ready to go live yet.
- Needs attention (Build and Grow) — with N Sold out, N Running low or N Steps hidden until restocked.
- Discount not live — Shopify didn't accept the stack's discount. See Troubleshooting.
Card actions: Edit, Analytics, Duplicate (creates a copy as a draft), Publish, Pause or Resume (whichever fits the status), and Delete (click Confirm delete to be sure).
Create a new stack
Click + New stack. Create a new stack offers three ways to start:
- Start from a template (Recommended) — click Choose a template. Filter by store type (All, Skincare, Haircare and so on), then click Use template on the one you want. There are 31 ready-made templates. Each gives you the steps, their names and their descriptions; you add your products.
- Review auto-suggestions (Build and Grow) — PreStack finds complete stacks in your catalog for you to review. Click Go to suggestions.
- Build from scratch — click Start blank to choose every step and description yourself.
The editor opens as New stack. Nothing is saved until you click Save draft.
On Core, a stack can have up to 5 steps, so a template with more steps shows Needs N steps — your plan allows 5 and an upgrade link.
Edit a stack
Open a stack with Edit. The top of the page has View on store, Duplicate and Delete.
Steps
The Steps table lists each step with its name, product, quantity (Qty) and Stock.
- Drag ⋮⋮ to reorder, or focus it and press ↑ ↓.
- Edit opens the step's popup. + Add step adds a new one.
- On Core, a stack can have up to 5 steps. Build and Grow have no limit.
In the step popup:
- Product — click Choose a product and pick it in Shopify's picker.
- Variant — pick a variant, or Shopper picks on the storefront to let shoppers choose the options (size, shade and so on) in the widget.
- Step name — what this step is, in a few words (up to 70 characters). Shoppers see it above the product.
- Why this step matters — one short line shown to shoppers (up to 140 characters).
- Quantity for best results — 1 to 20. The full stack adds this many.
- Typically lasts (days, optional) (Grow) — for products that run out. It powers the reorder reminder (see Storefront).
- Media URL (YouTube / Vimeo, optional) (Grow) — a how-to video shown with the step.
- Click Add step (or Done). Remove step deletes it.
A step whose product is out of stock can be hidden: it then shows Hidden from storefront, and Show step again brings it back.
Stack page
The stack's own details, shown on its stack page and the all stacks page:
- Stack name (up to 60 characters).
- Time required (optional) — for example "5 minutes/day".
- Description (optional, shorter is better) — up to 320 characters.
- Footer note (optional) — for example "Need help choosing? Message us anytime."
FAQ
Up to 8 questions and answers, shown at the bottom of the stack page. Click + Add question. Leave it empty to hide the FAQ.
Status
Choose Active, Paused or Draft, then click Save. The status changes when you save:
- Active — live on your storefront.
- Paused — hidden from shoppers. Nothing is deleted.
- Draft — not on your storefront yet.
To publish, a stack needs at least 2 visible steps, each with a product. If something is missing, To publish this stack: lists what to do.
Stack discount
- Discount type: No discount or Discount (% off).
- Full stack discount (% off) — 1 to 90. It applies when the cart has every step at its quantity.
- 1-of-each discount (% off, optional) — a smaller discount for buying one of every step, for stacks where some steps have a quantity above 1. It must be lower than the full stack discount.
The card shows what the full stack costs before and after the discount. See How the bundle discount works.
Recommended for
Who this stack suits, up to 5 labels (up to 30 characters each), such as "Beginners" or "Dry skin". Pick from Suggested from your products or Common for your store, or Add your own. Labels show on the stack page and the all stacks page, where shoppers can filter by them.
Next stack (Build and Grow)
What to suggest once a shopper owns every step: Automatic — the next live stack with different products, a stack you choose, or Don't suggest a stack.
Stack page link
For an active stack: the stack page's address, with Copy link. Want a shorter link like yourstore.com/your-stack? Use Create a URL redirect.
Saving
Use Save (or Save draft for a new stack) in the bar at the top of the admin. Discard throws away your changes. Shoppers see the change on their next page load.
Delete
Delete → Delete stack removes the stack and its stack discount from your store. It can't be undone.
Stack badges
Active stacks can earn a badge that shoppers see (Build and Grow). The editor shows Storefront badge: … when one applies:
- New — new stacks, for 30 days.
- Popular — among the top 25% of your stacks by buyers, with at least 50 buyers. Needs 2 or more active stacks.
- Trending — gained the most new buyers in the last 7 days (at least 10). One stack at a time.
- Most completed — the highest share of customers finishing the stack, with at least 20 completions in the last 90 days. One stack at a time.
Turn badges off in Settings → Product page widget → Show stack badges.
Suggestions
Build and Grow. PreStack looks through your collections and proposes complete stacks: products that share a collection, cheaper entry steps first.
- Open Stacks → Suggestions. Click Scan catalog again for a fresh scan.
- Each suggestion lists its steps with prices, who it's Recommended for, and why it was suggested.
- Click Approve as draft to create it as a draft you can edit, or Dismiss.
A collection needs at least 3 products that aren't already part of a stack. If nothing is found, add products to collections and scan again.
Replace a product
Build and Grow. When the same product is a step in several stacks, swap it for another in all of them at once.
- Open Stacks → Replace a product. Products in more than one stack lists them, with their stock and how many stacks use each.
- Click Replace on the product.
- Under Replace with, click Choose a product.
- Under In these stacks, deselect any stack where you want to keep the current product.
- Click Replace in N stacks.
Each step keeps its quantity, text and any name you wrote (a name that was just the old product's name changes to the new one). Stack discounts are updated, and live stacks update on your storefront right away.
When a sold-out product is used in other stacks too, its step in the editor also offers Replace in all stacks. To change a product in one stack only, use Edit on its step.
Plan limits on this page
- Active stacks: 5 on Core, unlimited on Build and Grow. Drafts and paused stacks don't count.
- Steps per stack: 5 on Core, unlimited on Build and Grow.
- One product in several live stacks: Build and Grow. On Core, a product can be in one live stack at a time.
Settings
The Settings page
Settings applies to all your stacks. Change what you need, then click Save in the bar at the top (or the section's own save button). Discard throws your changes away.
PreStack admin language
The language PreStack's own pages are shown in. Shoppers don't see this.
- Same as my Shopify admin — each person on your team sees PreStack in their own Shopify admin language.
- Or pick one language for everyone.
PreStack's admin is available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and Swedish. Any other admin language shows English.
Storefront setup
- App embed — whether PreStack is on in your theme (Active, Inactive, or why it couldn't be checked), with Open app embed and Check again.
- All stacks page — the page that lists every live stack (yourstore.com/apps/prestack/stacks), with Copy link.
- My Journeys page (Build and Grow) — customers' progress across every stack (yourstore.com/apps/prestack/journey), with Copy link. On Core it shows Locked and Upgrade to Build.
- Featured stacks — show a few stacks on your homepage or any page. Click Open theme editor and add the Featured stacks block (see Storefront).
Add the All stacks link to your menu (Content → Menus → Add menu item) or share it in your social media bio and campaigns.
Store type
- Store category — sets which templates PreStack suggests. Existing stacks don't change.
- What shoppers call your stacks — for example routine, kit or set, or choose Custom… and type the word for one (One) and for several (Many). Shoppers see this word on the widget and your stack pages, in their own language.
Appearance (colors & buttons)
A live preview shows your choices.
- Widget — Theme matches your theme's background and text colors, or choose Custom colors.
- Highlight — marks the step being viewed and the widget's links.
- Savings — colors the "Save …" and "You save …" lines. Default is the built-in green.
- Buttons — Primary, Secondary and Tertiary, each with Button, Text, Hover button and Hover text colors. Primary is also the main button on your stack pages.
Product page widget
- Collapse on phones — shows a bar shoppers tap to open. Off by default.
- Show the "Bought by" count (Build and Grow) — "★ Bought by N customers", shown once a stack has 10 buyers. On by default.
- Show stack badges (Build and Grow) — New, Popular, Trending and Most completed. On by default.
Collection pages
Build and Grow. Stack badge puts a small tag on product photos in collection grids for products that are part of a stack ("Part of 2 stacks"). It's off by default.
- Switch Stack badge on.
- Look — the badge's background and text colors.
- Corner — Top left or Top right.
- Click Save collection page settings.
The same app embed covers collection pages; nothing else to switch on.
Shopper-facing text
Every word shoppers see on the widget, stack pages and the My Journeys page, grouped by where it appears. Change the wording to match your brand's voice, or translate it.
- Under Edit texts for, pick the language. Your store's languages are listed first; for one you don't sell in yet, Add a language opens Shopify's Languages page.
- Change the texts you want (up to 120 characters each). Leave a field at its default to keep the built-in text.
- Words in braces, like {count} or {price}, fill in by themselves. Keep them as they are.
- Reset to default restores a group. Click Save.
You can also set what shoppers call your stacks in each language.
Analytics
Overview
Analytics shows all your stacks for your plan's period: the last 30 days on Core, 90 days on Build, and 13 months on Grow.
- Stack views — how often shoppers saw your stacks.
- Stack page views — views of your stack pages, as a share of all views.
- Full stack clicks — clicks on the full stack and "1 of each" buttons, as a share of views.
With no live stacks yet, the page asks you to publish one.
Per-stack performance
A table with one row per stack: Views, Stack page views, Full stack clicks, Completion and Buyers. Paused stacks are marked "(paused)". Click View for the stack's own page.
One stack's analytics
- Overview — Stack views, Full stack clicks, Completion rate (the share of buyers who bought every step) and Buyers (customers who bought from it).
- Product pages vs stack page — views, full stack clicks and click rate (clicks ÷ views) for each.
- Attributed revenue (Grow) — sales from this stack's own products, after discounts and refunds, across orders whose cart was built through this stack's widget. Other items in the order don't count, and cancelled orders count for nothing.
- Entry point — where shoppers first find this stack: which product page, or the stack page.
- Step drop-off analysis — how many customers bought each step. The step where most stop is marked, with ideas to fix it (a price barrier, or a step that doesn't explain its value).
Buyers and completion come from orders: a customer counts once they buy a stack's product. Your history is kept for 13 months on every plan, so upgrading shows more of it.
Plans & pricing
Compare plans

Choose or change your plan
- Open Plans and choose Monthly or Yearly.
- Click Choose Core, Choose Build or Choose Grow. Shopify's plan page opens.
- Approve the plan there. You come back to PreStack on your new plan.
The Plans page shows your plan's status, for example when your trial ends, when it renews, or a change Shopify has scheduled. Shopify keeps track of the trial days your store has used, so canceling and subscribing again doesn't start a new trial. Shopify prorates every change automatically.
Moving to a smaller plan or canceling
- If your live stacks don't fit the smaller plan, they're all paused and the dashboard says so. Choose which to turn back on. Nothing is deleted.
- Features the smaller plan doesn't include stop showing on your storefront.
- Canceling keeps every stack and setting saved, but nothing shows on your storefront until you choose a plan again. Subscribing resumes everything.
What shoppers see
The product page widget
On the page of every product that's a step in an active stack, the widget shows the stack:
- The stack's name, its steps in order with their names, "why" lines, quantities and prices, and the step being viewed highlighted.
- Add complete stack — $X adds every step at its quantity in one click, with the saving shown when there's a discount. Shoppers see your own word for a stack here and everywhere else (for example "Add complete routine"), set in Settings → Store type.
- Add 1 of each — $X, when some steps have a quantity above 1, with its saving if the stack has a 1-of-each discount.
- Start with Step 1 only adds just the first step.
- I already have this on each step, so shoppers can mark what they own. Owned steps and steps already in the cart count toward their progress.
- Choose options on a step where the shopper picks the variant.
- A sold-out step shows Sold out (or Expected back with your restock date), and the full stack button adds the steps that are available.
When a product is in more than one stack (Build and Grow), the widget shows one tab per stack.
On Build and Grow, the widget can also show stack badges and "★ Bought by N customers". On Grow, a step with a video shows ▶ Watch how.
The widget matches your theme's text size and colors (or your own colors from Settings), works in right-to-left languages, and can collapse into a bar on phones.
Stack pages
Every active stack has its own page at yourstore.com/apps/prestack/stacks/stack-name, inside your store's theme:
- The stack's name, description, time required and Recommended for labels.
- The steps, each with its product, "why" line and a link to the product.
- The full stack and 1-of-each buttons, with the saving.
- Your FAQ ("Questions about this stack") and footer note.
Copy a stack's link from its editor (Stack page link) and share it in emails, social posts or ads.
The all stacks page
yourstore.com/apps/prestack/stacks lists all your live stacks. When it helps, shoppers can filter them by Recommended for labels. Copy the link from Settings → Storefront setup, and add it to your menu.
Featured stacks
A theme block that shows a few stacks on your homepage or any page. In the theme editor, add the Featured stacks block (under Apps) and choose:
- Heading and Subheading (leave the heading empty for "Shop our stacks" in your store's word), Heading size and Heading alignment.
- Stacks to show — Most popular, Newest, or Choose stacks.
- Number of stacks (1 to 8) and Cards per row on desktop (2 to 4).
Returning shoppers
- Every plan — the widget remembers the steps a shopper marked as owned and counts what's in their cart. When they own every step, it shows the stack as complete.
- Build and Grow — signed-in customers also see the steps they've bought from you (From your orders), their progress follows them across devices, and a completed stack can suggest the next stack.
- Grow — a step with Typically lasts set shows "Running low? Reorder …" a few days before it's likely to run out, and a completed stack shows a Complete badge with Buy it again.
My Journeys
Build and Grow. yourstore.com/apps/prestack/journey shows a signed-in customer every stack they've started: how many steps they have, when they bought each one, and the next step to buy. Add it to your menu so customers can find it.
Collection page badges
Build and Grow, when switched on in Settings → Collection pages. Product photos in your collection grids get a small tag such as "Part of 2 stacks". It keeps working when shoppers sort, filter or load more products.
Languages and currencies
Prices show in the shopper's currency, using your store's conversion. The widget's built-in texts follow your store's language, and you can change any of them for each language in Settings → Shopper-facing text. Everything you write yourself (stack names, steps, descriptions, FAQ) shows as you typed it.
How the bundle discount works
Automatic, with no code
A stack's discount is an automatic Shopify discount. When the cart qualifies, it applies at checkout with nothing for the shopper to type. It's included on every plan.
- Full stack discount — applies when the cart has every step at its quantity.
- 1-of-each discount — a smaller discount for one of every step, if you set one. It applies to stacks where some steps have a quantity above 1.
- A cart gets one of the two per stack: the full stack discount when it qualifies, otherwise the 1-of-each one.
- Buying only some of the steps gets no discount.
- The discount comes off that stack's own products, once per complete set. Other items in the cart don't change it.
The widget tells shoppers about it ("You save $X — discount applies automatically"), and if the full stack isn't in the cart yet, that the discount needs every step.
With your other discounts
PreStack's discount is set to combine with product, order and shipping discounts. Your own Shopify discounts follow the combination settings you gave them: if yours is set to combine too, shoppers can get both. If it isn't, Shopify applies only one, normally the one that saves the shopper more.
Shopify's limit
A store can have at most 25 active automatic discounts, apps' included. If the limit is reached, a stack's discount can't go live: its card shows Discount not live and the editor explains what to do.
Shopify Flow
Flow triggers
Grow. PreStack adds two triggers to Shopify Flow, so you can automate what happens next, for example tag a customer, send a thank-you email, or add them to a segment:
- Step owned — fires once when a customer acquires a step in a stack. It passes the customer, the stack's name and ID, and the step number.
- Stack completed — fires once when a customer owns every step in a stack. It passes the customer and the stack's name and ID.
Set up a workflow
- Open the Shopify Flow app in your Shopify admin and create a workflow.
- Choose a trigger and search for PreStack. Pick Step owned or Stack completed.
- Add your conditions and actions, then turn the workflow on.
Performance
Speed
PreStack is built to keep your store fast:
- The widget is a small script that loads after your page appears.
- The stack it shows comes with the product page itself, so it doesn't wait for an extra request.
- The collection badge script loads only on collection pages, and only when the badge is switched on.
- Everything renders in its own container, so your theme's styles can't break it and it can't break your theme.
Why changes aren't always instant
Saving a stack updates your storefront right away. Because Shopify and browsers cache pages, a change can occasionally take a few minutes to show everywhere.
Troubleshooting
The widget isn't showing on a product page
Check in order:
- You have a plan. Without one, nothing shows on your storefront.
- The stack is Active, not Paused or Draft.
- The product is a step in that stack, and the stack has at least 2 visible steps. Hidden steps don't count.
- The PreStack app embed is on in the theme you're viewing (Settings → Storefront setup → App embed). Preview themes have their own switch.
- Reload the page. A change can occasionally take a few minutes.
I can't publish a stack
- To publish this stack: lists what's missing: a product for every step, and at least 2 visible steps.
- On Core, you can have 5 active stacks, and a product can be in one live stack at a time. Pause another stack, or upgrade.
- Without a plan, stacks stay drafts. Choose a plan to publish.
The discount isn't applying at checkout
- The cart must have every step at its quantity (or one of each step, for the 1-of-each discount).
- If the stack's card shows Discount not live, save the stack again in a minute. If it stays, check Discounts in your Shopify admin: a store can have at most 25 active automatic discounts.
- One of your own discounts may not be set to combine, so Shopify applied that one instead.
A step's product sold out
On Build and Grow, the dashboard and the stack's card say so. Hide step until restocked hides the step from the widget, and Add restock date shows shoppers when it's expected back. A stack needs 2 visible steps to show. To swap the product in every stack that uses it, use Stacks → Replace a product.
My stacks paused themselves
A move to a smaller plan pauses every live stack when they don't all fit the new plan. Open Stacks and turn on the ones you want.
Stack badges or the "Bought by" count aren't showing
They're on Build and Grow, and can be switched off in Settings → Product page widget. "Bought by" shows once a stack has 10 buyers. Each badge has its own rule (see Stacks → Stack badges).
Analytics look empty
Views fill in as shoppers see your live stacks. Buyers, completion, drop-off and revenue fill in from orders, as customers buy a stack's products.
Support
Get help
- Click Help & Support at the top right of any page in the app.
- Send a message for questions or setup help, Send a report for a bug, or Share your idea for a feature request.
- We reply to your store's email address, usually within one business day.
- You can also email support@pretechpark.com.
Uninstalling
Uninstall PreStack from your Shopify admin. The widget stops showing right away and PreStack removes the automatic discounts it created. Your stacks and settings are kept for about 48 hours, so reinstalling within that time finds everything. After that they're permanently deleted.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about PreStack. Pick a topic, then a question.
Getting started
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Shopify keeps track of the trial days your store has used, so canceling and subscribing again doesn’t start a new trial. PreStack has no free plan: without one, your stacks stay saved but don’t show on your storefront.
Does it edit my theme code?
No. PreStack runs through Shopify’s app embed: you switch it on once in the theme editor, and nothing is written into your theme files.
Does it work with my theme?
Yes, with any Online Store theme (headless storefronts aren’t supported). The widget matches your theme’s text size and colors, or you can choose your own colors in Settings. If something doesn’t look right on your theme, contact us and we’ll fit it.
Will it slow down my store?
It’s built not to. The widget is a small script that loads after your page appears, and the stack it shows comes with the product page itself, so it doesn’t wait for an extra request.
Discounts and plans
Do my shoppers need a discount code?
No. A stack’s bundle discount is automatic: when the cart has every step at its quantity, it applies at checkout with nothing to type. A stack can also offer a smaller discount for one of each step. Buying only some of the steps gets no discount.
Will it clash with my other discounts?
PreStack’s bundle discount is set to combine with product, order and shipping discounts. Your own Shopify discounts follow the combination settings you gave them: if yours is set to combine too, shoppers can get both. If it isn’t, Shopify applies only one, normally the one that saves the shopper more.
How many stacks can I run?
On Core, up to 5 stacks can be live at once, with up to 5 steps each, and a product can be in one live stack at a time. Build and Grow have no limits on either. Drafts don’t count.
What happens if I move to a smaller plan?
If your live stacks don’t fit the smaller plan, they’re all paused, and you choose which to turn back on. Nothing is deleted. Features the smaller plan doesn’t include stop showing on your storefront.
Your shoppers
What happens when a step’s product sells out?
On Build and Grow, stock alerts tell you when a step’s product sells out, and PreStack can hide that step from the widget until it’s back in stock.
What do returning shoppers see?
Shoppers can select “I already have this” on steps they already own, and the widget counts those and what’s in their cart toward their progress. On Build and Grow, signed-in customers also see the steps they’ve bought from you, their progress follows them across devices, and they get a My Journeys page.
Does it support other languages and currencies?
Yes. The widget shows prices in the shopper’s currency, using your store’s conversion, and its texts follow your store’s language. You can change any of its texts in Settings. The PreStack admin itself is available in 9 languages.
Data and removal
What data does PreStack collect?
Only what it needs to run your stacks and show your results: your stacks and settings, anonymous storefront activity (views and add-to-cart clicks), and which stack products each customer bought, stored as a one-way code, never their name or email. It never sells your data. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I remove PreStack?
Uninstall it from your Shopify admin. The widget stops showing right away and PreStack removes the automatic discounts it created. Your stacks and settings are kept for about 48 hours, so reinstalling finds everything, and then they’re permanently deleted.
